Bisley, Surrey

An easy (if sometimes muddy), 5.5 mile flat walk around the outskirts of Bisley.  Points of interest along the walk include the National Shooting Centre and Coldingley Prison.  The nearby Horsell Common is also worth a visit whiler in the area as it was the site of filming for the intro to HG Wells War of the Worlds.

There are many places to park on this route, but we chose a quiet gravel layby opposite the National Shooting Grounds.

The walk starts from the campsite at Etherley Farm and follows a number of trails through Leith Hill Copse and Orchard Copse, passing Leith Hill PLace before crossing the road and winding through Slittens Copse.

Devils Punch Bowl, Hindhead, Surrey

A short walk around and into the Devils Punch Bowl on Hindhead Common. There a numerous walks here of varying length and the whole area is well worth an explore.

This walk begins at the National Trust car park where there's a tea room and toilets if required. The old footpath used to run along the top of the hill above the busy A3 but that all changed in 2011 when the HIndhead Tunnel was opened and the old road ripped up and returned to nature.
