An easy (if sometimes muddy), 5.5 mile flat walk around the outskirts of Bisley.  Points of interest along the walk include the National Shooting Centre and Coldingley Prison.  The nearby Horsell Common is also worth a visit whiler in the area as it was the site of filming for the intro to HG Wells War of the Worlds.

There are many places to park on this route, but we chose a quiet gravel layby opposite the National Shooting Grounds.

From there, we had a quick walk along a tarmac military road before crossing over to follow the NSG fenceline across Bisley Common.  The footpath here was muddy and required a few deft leaps across puddles and boggy ground.

Once we had left the shooting ground behind, the land opened up and we briefly skirted the walls of HMP Coldingley.

Bypassing a sports field, we crossed the main road and followed a gravel road past a garden centre and plantations.  Another brief roadside walk led us back onto a footpath and the start of the return journey,

For those that are following the caching trail, there are many extensions to the circuit if you wish to make a longer day of it.

The return route passed to the east of Bisley village which would provide a good detour for those wishing to stop off for lunch.

There's the Hen and Chickens pub as well as the Garibalsi within easy reach of the route.

The route continues back trhough the east end of Bisley Common and passes a few well hidden properties before rejoining the tarmac road that started the route and guiding one back to the start point.

A nice, untaxing walk for a Sunday.
